"I don't care how good the movie is.
Nothing is gonna make me breathe less."

That was the first thing Andrew said to me after watching "An Inconvenient Truth : A Global Warning". Because you see I immediately opened my DVD player, extracted the DVD an handed it to Andrew with the insistence that he watch it RIGHT NOW. Then I raved for twenty minutes.

I'm planning "An Inconvenient Party" for later this month. Everyone is welcome, and there WILL BE DRINKING AND PRIZES!!! I just gotta settle on a date and get some finances together for prizes and such.

I'd like to make a very special VIP invitation to the following folks, due to some contribution they can make to the community or to the other guests at the party. Mike Smith, our Green Party representative this past election or another member of the Green Party from the area (as I know Mike lives quite a way here); any member of a current sitting local government (Province of Saskatchewan, any member of the Weyburn City Council, or even a member of parliament) or a representative of any recognized political party; My good friends Corey Morrissette and his lovely wife Laura (that should cover much of local media, but any other local or regional press including BLOGGERS are welcome (Saskboy, been to Weyburn lately?) as well as local business owners), Jeff and any of his fellow teachers, and any and all of my friends and family past, present and future. I'll try and get a date up in the next couple days, and we'll go from there, but I definately want to hear from all interested parties.

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

We also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2007, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make Canada great (not to imply that Canada is necessarily greater than any other country), and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, or sexual reference of the wishee.

By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. Brain Teaser Yo!
Ok guys... here's a noodle scratcher.

This brainteaser, reportedly written by Einstein is difficult and Einstein said that 98% of the people in the world could not figure it out. Which percentage are you in?

There are five houses in a row in different colors. In each house lives a person with a different nationality. The five owners drink a different drink, smoke a different brand of cigar and keep a different pet, one of which is a Walleye Pike.

The question is– who owns the fish?

Hints:
1. The Brit lives in the red house.
2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Dane drinks tea.
4. The green house is on the left of the white house.
5. The green house owner drinks coffee.
6. The person who smokes Pall Malls keeps birds.
7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhills.
8. The man living in the house right in the center drinks milk.
9. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
10. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
11. The man who keeps horses lives next to the one who smokes Dunhills.
12. The owner who smokes Bluemasters drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Princes.
14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
15. The man who smokes Blends has a neighbor who drinks water.

There are no tricks, pure logic will get you the correct answer. And yes, there is enough information to arrive at the one and only correct answer.

It took me about an hour, but I got the answer... can you?

Give the Green Party a Voice!
As most people who follow politics likely know, the Green Party has been rallying the major networks to allow them a spot in the leaders debate in the national elections. The Bloc Quebecois was allowed a spot in the first election it participated in, yet the Green Party has never been allowed a voice in this debate, despite growing support nation-wide.

I encourage my readers to read more on the subject at http://www.demanddemocraticdebates.ca a website erected by the Green Party. Even if you do not support the values of the Green Party, you might support the values of democracy and feel they deserve a voice. Read up, and if you think this situation is as unfair as I do, please fill out their e-mail petition which is sent to many of the bigwigs that make the decisions in such matters.

Remember, democracy is about more than voting, so participate!

What Kind of Martini are YOU?
You Are a Classic Martini

You area sophisticated drinker, who knows that simple quality is over-rated.
You're a knowledgeable drunk, but sometimes you're a know-it-all when you're blasted.

You should never: Drink and gossip. You tend to forget who's standing right behind you!

Your ideal party: Has a real bartender. But no one mixes a better drink than you.

Your drinking soulmates: those with a Chocolate Martini personality

Your drinking rivals: those with a Margarita Martini personality

Photo Contest Entry #4 - "Under Pressure"

Hey folks, entry number 4 for Rob's excellent self-portrait photo contest. Those who have entered I'm sure are encouraged to make sure Rob knows you've entered and where your photos are. I know once I get all five done, I'll e-mail them to Rob... even though he's already seen them on here I'm sure.

Photo is entitled "Under Pressure" and I used some different software for the "darkroom" this time. Can you tell?

My Thoughts so far on the Nintendo Wii

Ok, so I know everyone religiously follows the coming of a new gaming system. I've found that since about the Super Nintendo, that I'm not too concerned with new systems. Pretty much they have to come to me and impress me with some feature or another. Playstation has held my gaze for a couple generations, but I think Nintendo really has my eye again.

Enter the Nintendo Wii. The major feature of note on this system is a pair of controllers that dectect spatial movement of the unit. Thus instead of tapping left-left-A or some button combination to perform a task, say swing a bat, you mime performing the action, ie swinging your arms through the air.

I think this is just freaking awesome. For the past I don't know how many system generations, there has been virtually no advancement or acceptance of new input control methods. There was the gamepad, the joystick and the keyboard. Oh sure there were novelty controllers, gloves, guns, guitars, pads, steering wheels, skateboards. But none of them worked as universally as the old standard button and joystick gamepad. Infact even into the current generation Sony and Microsoft have chosen to retain their dinosaurs.

Ninetendo has moved into the future. But I think there's a danger. Standard gaming systems are easily played in the sitting or even lying position. The need to move is almost eliminated in these games. Thus when someone plays too much, there is some sort of negative reaction - you get fat and full of diabetes. But with the Wii, people will be moving, exercising, you'll be able to play more with less reprecussions. I'm just afraid we're gonna end up with a generation of game addicted kids because their parents don't see a problem with their children. Kids are going to lose their true sense of discovery where there is illness and pain to punish their mistakes, not a Game Over page. Games are immersive enough without further physical involvement. Combine this technology with an updated version of the flop Virtual Nintendo, and we're starting to see the beginning of The Matrix... hell pop a VR helmet on my head, some good controllers in my hand, plug me into a food source and throw me into Second Life and I've started a new life. This technology exists today, it's only a matter of time before someone thinks to combine them.

Mark my words, you'll see it in the paper before 2008.

Wide Mouth Manson! Grr
So had a wild weekend. Played at this like family Christmas party last night... free $150 meal and free booze. Had to catch a ride home.

This afternoon I went and checked out Wide Mouth Mason at the CP Holiday Train with Holly, Rhonda and Tai. Mason rocked so hard the train derailed, tipped over and killed 14 people. Earl was playing guitar with his teeth at the time... he'll need extensive bridge work.

We Made It
Ok folks, well, Pilot's World has made it's move. We've got the same headquarters as Randomization now, so that should make for some interesting network problems.

Somehow, despite the fact that she didn't lift a single box, Bootsy seems to be the most tired of the crew, but to be fair, I don't think she really realized that she was moving until about 11 o'clock last night when we didn't go back to the old place. So she was a bit wired all day.

Other than that, the place is a mess, but it's our mess. We're slowly getting things together, should be clean sometime around 2008.
