Halloween Tuneage

Well last year around this time, my Halloween gift to you was a sexy witch (and HOW).

This year, I put a little more of myself into it (and kept the sexy women for myself). SoI give to you, a couple of one man jam recordings I did the other day. Their live mixes and completely done in one take (needless to say, each jam took in the area of 45 minutes to set up). These would make great background music for a party or to have playing in the background as you give out candies to the kids.

Hope you Enjoy!

Let the Good Times Roll

You said it Ric Ocasek of the Cars. You said it. So in addition to that other piece of good news, after going out for a celebration supper with the fam' tonight, Andrew and I made some phone calls and got ourselves a house to live in. It's small and only 2 bedroom, but it'll be big enough for us, and hell we can more than fit a studio in the dining room.

BOOYAH! EVERYTHING IS COMING OUT PILOT!

I AM THE FREAKING KING!

So I got my 6 month review today. And I got a $3 an hour raise.

This is the security footage from work...

Probably the worlds greatest slow motion air hump.

My God is life great.

Renaissance Man

Lately I've pondered whether I could be a modern renaissance man. You know like Da Vinci, with my hands in a little of everything. I like music, webdesign... hell the internet in general, outdoor adventuring, photography, child pornography, Zima; a bunch of stuff. So is it possible in this time of the world to be that way?

Even Lisa is criticized on an episode of the Simpsons where she accused of being a "a buffet style intellectual, picking and nibbling until one day you're 48 and managing a Barnes and Noble" "a dilettante". The social acceptance of this kind of career is shaky at best.

But I really think that with work and time I could eventually come to afford working in music in a couple or 3 bands, doing photography for people, managing a small group of income bearing websites and just doing whatever else, selling child porn, sex and blood and whatnot.

I dunno, thoughts? Opinions? Criticisms?

The Wisdom of Homer Simpson

Man, I am too drunk to drive! Wait a minute! I shouldn't listen to myself, I'M DRUNK!

Oh Homer, you'll bury us all.

Thank you Blogger

So now Blogger has let me in, what to blog about.

Well Andrew and I broke ground on our new band last night. A bit of technical setup and a few jams have put us well on our way. We are in desperate need of a drummer, must be creative and fun. Seriously if you got the kit and want to do some experimental metal, get ahold of us, the sooner the better, but be warned, we've already got some crazy beats written, so it's not gonna be a cakewalk.

Anyhoo, that's about it for now. Well I suppose I could bitch a bit about how hard it is to dress sometimes. Ever go out with someone and suddenly realize "Shit, I wore this shirt the last time we hung out". I freaking hate that.

Oh how we waste our time...

Well here's a fun and anonymous way to pretend you're a 7 year old AND mess with people. Totally concequence free!!

It's an interactive fridge with letter magnets you can rearrange to spell stuff. The caveat? About 20 other people are trying to spell stuff too, and they'll grab letters wherever they can get e'm. That image over there on the left took me about 5 minutes to write and maintain, just to get a screenshot. I wanted to do the webaddress, but GOOD LUCK!

If you wanna check it out yourself and mess with all the little strangers in cyberspace (hey remember that word!) go to http://web.okaygo.co.uk/apps/letters/flashcom/index.htm.

Curling - the most painful game on Earth

I've been sore for 5 days following our pathetic defeat at the hands of a farmer and three other people who didn't look like they knew what was up. I'm thinking I pulled something.

That's right, in addition to being a Lion's Club member, I curl. Guess I don't need to be like Danny and pretend I'm a superhero like a 5 year old to have a good time (oh you SO had that one coming).

Anyways, our Skip, Corey has a contest on his blog, CD'S Playhouse to name the team, so if you've got some good curling team names, head on over! Also I should mention Soulfood's Contest to write her machine message.

Umm what else... well I do have about 4 new blogs I need to add to the list and promote here, but dammit, I just don't feel like it.

TGIW!

Quadruple Booked

Ok so I seem to have booked myself to do four things tommorrow night. Needless to say I have to cancel a few. If anyone would like ABSOLUTELY FREE tickets to tommorrow night's Rider game versus the Alouettes, drop me an e-mail at jeremy.pilon gmail.com . The only caveat is you have to be able to come get them or live in Weyburn. They're pretty sweet seats, second tier, 30 yard line. First come first serve.

In other news, the inside of my mouth is peeling. I had a bag of Xtra Salt n' Vinegar Rave potato chips and it seems to have killed a thin layer of skin in my mouth. So now I'm molting. It would be cool if it weren't so gross and annoying.

As to the comments on my last post about Dulcet. Well, Dulcet is the best band you've never heard of. And Dave, it was just a warm-up, we're playing this coming weekend, fret not.

Also and finally. I've had to cancel/postpone my performance at the Communithon. I haven't heard back yet as to wether I can be rescheduled, but as it stands it looks like I won't be playing due to a scheduling snafu. Ces't la vie. But to make it up I will book another solo gig... these songs gotta get played.

AH SHIT

So my parents conned me into becoming a member of the Lion's Club. That's not what I'm swearing about. Last meeting I accidentally missed and that's the one where they voted me in. DAMN!

Oh well I'll go tommorrow.

In other exciting news, Dulcet jammed this weekend and it kicked some major ass!

I'm too sexy for this blog... too sexy for this blog....

Hey all.

Jammed with Dave and Rob last night. Sorry Amanda... hope we didn't bore/offend you too much. Such is life with rock-star wannabees. Did a gagillion Linger covers, some old WMD, a Test Pilot song or two and some great Pink Floyd covers. I have a feeling I may have been witnessing the birth of Linger ver 4... "Electric Boogaloo".

Did some social networking on that nasty MySpace today. Hoping maybe a few people check it out and come to the show on the 27th at 10:00 PM (thanks Shanna!). For those of you who would like to keep up with the progress on the solo project, please visit http://www.jeremypilon.ca. It's just my MySpace account presently, but should be a new page by the end of the day.

Also bit the bullet and bought http://www.pilotsworld.ca. That's right, we've gone corporate. So you can update your bookmarks if you like, but the old addresses will remain operational until such time as I have to pay for them.

Another Post that should be on MySpace...

But frankly I'm sick of that stupid site, so I'm just gonna keep posting solo project shit here until/if I get my solo webpage up.

So I'm booked to play the Communithon on OCTOBER 27 at 10:00. That's at the Legion Hall in Weyburn or live on Access 7. Make sure you check it out. Failing that, I am getting some footage recorded by some friends, so I hope to have the stuff up on YouTube in the weeks following. Depending on how I felt about the show afterwards, I'll judge if/how I'll proceed... I may be looking for volunteers in November.

Today I'm demo-ing the 5 songs I'll be playing at the show. Mostly to get them into a finished state, but also so I have something to practice with over the next couple weeks. Unfortunately I don't have an electric guitar at my disposal at present, so I'm a little limited in the ease of recording.

And finally, Pilot's World is very likely to get some more making over in the next little while, possibly a major look update. One of the features I want to add is a friends ad board at the top of the page. Basically if someone I know has a show coming up, or like the Saskblogs meets or anything like that, they can send me an appropriate graphic to put up and I'll put it into rotation. Just kinda a little connection to the community thing. So keep it in mind, I'll be taking applications for it in the next bit.

On the drawing table...

So with the solo project (of which I have a show booked) I've been working on eventually performing Moonlight Sonata as a solo performance... on bass. I honestly didn't think it had been done, but I did find several videos on YouTube that proved me wrong.

This is what I plan to do...

The Secret Lives of Bloggers - Digital Duality

Pretty fancy title there eh? Sounds like a dissertation or something.

But what I'm gonna discuss is secret blogs. For sometime, I've contemplated starting a secret blog or blogs... sort of have Pilot's World as my censored, kid friendly, mom friendly blog, then have all the crazy shit I do on another blog. I know people do do this, some have invited me to these alternate blogs, others have eluded to them, but never forked over a link... probably wise as this blog is read by dozens of people.

I had also considered making a blog with clearances based on cookies, then I realized how lazy I was and dropped that idea forthwith. It was all part of the plan for "Pilot's Universe" which would have been a fairly all inclusive blog/website. But I never really got the gumption to do it and instead just rearranged some of the graphics here.

ANYWAYS. What I'm trying to get at is. Do y'all have secret blogs? Do you like them/use them? Do you find a greater readership because you're more honest on that blog or is it just a good place to vent. I don't want to know where the blog is or what it's about... that would negate it being secret. But I am curious about this mysterious second life some lead on the net... and I want to hear about it!

Does anyone know

What I should blog about?

Me neither.

But I feel compelled to do so, as the alternative is cleaning house.

Introspective

Had a hell of a good weekend... even if the Riders did lose... and had a long drive home (missed the turnoff at Francis). It gave me time to think about myself, my life, where I'm going, where I've been and where I am now (which was when I realized I was in Tyvan and needed to turn around).

I know I can say without any doubt that I've felt better the past few weeks then I've felt in months. My house is getting cleaner (not there yet, but I am working on it), I've got money going into savings, I've made another very good friend, my job is stable and pays well, I have a reunion with my highschool band coming up, a really fun cover band, a solo project and just a feeling of general well-being.

On the other hand I've got alot of things that I don't like. I'm lonely and bored in Weyburn. This town has the ability to suck the life right out of a person and despite my best efforts it's sucked the life out of me. No other place I've lived has ever been such a boon to my creativity or energy. I've been shooting at getting a degree in Environmental Science at the U of M, yet I wonder if I'm university-cut... I haven't been in school for 5 years, my job is one I tolerate, but it has potential to become a job I hate in the next 12 months if I'm forced to switch facilities and although it's allowing me to save money, my apartment is too small for my ambitions, I can't fit my music stuff in this house and still have a place to live comfortably... plus my neighbours are the loudest people I've ever heard during sex.

My solutions? I don't know. Some have suggested I work in photography, a job I'd really enjoy... particularily photo-journalism. The environmental thing isn't off my plate yet, but I do have to give it some serious thought before I pursue it, my mistakes of the past are a warning of that one, and watching the turmoil my brother is going through right now reminds me of how careful I need to be and how easily it is to make a mistake. I love my music, but I doubt that I possess the stamina, carisma and luck it would require to even make a living I could support myself with, but I also know staying on with the City until I retire is not really an option for me either. And then there's the goal I've really wanted, but it always seems I need to deal with other goals first, start my own family.

Of course it all begs alot of discussion, meditation and thought. I'm surrounded by people I consider wise and knowledgeable on these subjects, my parents, Armin-my foreman, friends, family and any other amount of people in my life. I think that by talking to them, really analyzing my own goals and dreams, something will come of it.

Sometimes it's just hard to be patient... perhaps Jamiroquai said it best :

"Dance
all these hard times you're going through
Just dance
got candy in my heels tonight baby.
Dance."

I think I was watching the wrong game...

... or at least a different one from the refs. Suffice it to say, the Riders got robbed this week.

Enjoying the RGC, gonna have a quick beer and hang for the evening...
