"I don't care how good the movie is.
That was the first thing Andrew said to me after watching "An Inconvenient Truth : A Global Warning". Because you see I immediately opened my DVD player, extracted the DVD an handed it to Andrew with the insistence that he watch it RIGHT NOW. Then I raved for twenty minutes.
I'm planning "An Inconvenient Party" for later this month. Everyone is welcome, and there WILL BE DRINKING AND PRIZES!!! I just gotta settle on a date and get some finances together for prizes and such.
I'd like to make a very special VIP invitation to the following folks, due to some contribution they can make to the community or to the other guests at the party. Mike Smith, our Green Party representative this past election or another member of the Green Party from the area (as I know Mike lives quite a way here); any member of a current sitting local government (Province of Saskatchewan, any member of the Weyburn City Council, or even a member of parliament) or a representative of any recognized political party; My good friends Corey Morrissette and his lovely wife Laura (that should cover much of local media, but any other local or regional press including BLOGGERS are welcome (Saskboy, been to Weyburn lately?) as well as local business owners), Jeff and any of his fellow teachers, and any and all of my friends and family past, present and future. I'll try and get a date up in the next couple days, and we'll go from there, but I definately want to hear from all interested parties.

7- Up Pankkkakes
And now....
7-Up Pankkkakes
1 1/4 cups sifted flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1 beaten egg
1/4 cup milk
1 cup 7-UP (room temperature - cold won't rise as well)
2 tablespoons melted butter (Butter bere folks, not margarine)
Mix it all together as you go... start one ingredient at a time, top down. The batter will be lumpy, it's ok. Makes like a gillion small delicious pancakes... medium heat folks or you'll burn it!

Brain Teaser Yo!
This brainteaser, reportedly written by Einstein is difficult and Einstein said that 98% of the people in the world could not figure it out. Which percentage are you in?
There are five houses in a row in different colors. In each house lives a person with a different nationality. The five owners drink a different drink, smoke a different brand of cigar and keep a different pet, one of which is a Walleye Pike.
The question is– who owns the fish?
Hints:
1. The Brit lives in the red house.
2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Dane drinks tea.
4. The green house is on the left of the white house.
5. The green house owner drinks coffee.
6. The person who smokes Pall Malls keeps birds.
7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhills.
8. The man living in the house right in the center drinks milk.
9. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
10. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
11. The man who keeps horses lives next to the one who smokes Dunhills.
12. The owner who smokes Bluemasters drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Princes.
14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
15. The man who smokes Blends has a neighbor who drinks water. There are no tricks, pure logic will get you the correct answer. And yes, there is enough information to arrive at the one and only correct answer.
It took me about an hour, but I got the answer... can you?

Give the Green Party a Voice!
I encourage my readers to read more on the subject at http://www.demanddemocraticdebates.ca a website erected by the Green Party. Even if you do not support the values of the Green Party, you might support the values of democracy and feel they deserve a voice. Read up, and if you think this situation is as unfair as I do, please fill out their e-mail petition which is sent to many of the bigwigs that make the decisions in such matters.

Photo Contest Entry #4 - "Under Pressure"
Hey folks, entry number 4 for Rob's excellent self-portrait photo contest. Those who have entered I'm sure are encouraged to make sure Rob knows you've entered and where your photos are. I know once I get all five done, I'll e-mail them to Rob... even though he's already seen them on here I'm sure.
Photo is entitled "Under Pressure" and I used some different software for the "darkroom" this time. Can you tell?
My Thoughts so far on the Nintendo Wii
Ok, so I know everyone religiously follows the coming of a new gaming system. I've found that since about the Super Nintendo, that I'm not too concerned with new systems. Pretty much they have to come to me and impress me with some feature or another. Playstation has held my gaze for a couple generations, but I think Nintendo really has my eye again.
Enter the Nintendo Wii. The major feature of note on this system is a pair of controllers that dectect spatial movement of the unit. Thus instead of tapping left-left-A or some button combination to perform a task, say swing a bat, you mime performing the action, ie swinging your arms through the air.
I think this is just freaking awesome. For the past I don't know how many system generations, there has been virtually no advancement or acceptance of new input control methods. There was the gamepad, the joystick and the keyboard. Oh sure there were novelty controllers, gloves, guns, guitars, pads, steering wheels, skateboards. But none of them worked as universally as the old standard button and joystick gamepad. Infact even into the current generation Sony and Microsoft have chosen to retain their dinosaurs.
Ninetendo has moved into the future. But I think there's a danger. Standard gaming systems are easily played in the sitting or even lying position. The need to move is almost eliminated in these games. Thus when someone plays too much, there is some sort of negative reaction - you get fat and full of diabetes. But with the Wii, people will be moving, exercising, you'll be able to play more with less reprecussions. I'm just afraid we're gonna end up with a generation of game addicted kids because their parents don't see a problem with their children. Kids are going to lose their true sense of discovery where there is illness and pain to punish their mistakes, not a Game Over page. Games are immersive enough without further physical involvement. Combine this technology with an updated version of the flop Virtual Nintendo, and we're starting to see the beginning of The Matrix... hell pop a VR helmet on my head, some good controllers in my hand, plug me into a food source and throw me into Second Life and I've started a new life. This technology exists today, it's only a matter of time before someone thinks to combine them.
Mark my words, you'll see it in the paper before 2008.

Wide Mouth Manson! Grr
This afternoon I went and checked out Wide Mouth Mason at the CP Holiday Train with Holly, Rhonda and Tai. Mason rocked so hard the train derailed, tipped over and killed 14 people. Earl was playing guitar with his teeth at the time... he'll need extensive bridge work.

We Made It
Somehow, despite the fact that she didn't lift a single box, Bootsy seems to be the most tired of the crew, but to be fair, I don't think she really realized that she was moving until about 11 o'clock last night when we didn't go back to the old place. So she was a bit wired all day.
Other than that, the place is a mess, but it's our mess. We're slowly getting things together, should be clean sometime around 2008.

Pilot's World Headquarters Moving!
Not looking forward to the next month, posting will likely be spotty, I've got too much on my plate. Frankly the mere thought of it all is kinda making me depressed. I think in the New Year I'm going to have to re-examine my participation in things like the Lions Club, Old Skool and other things. It's not that I dislike these projects in my life, far from it. I just can't make the commitment necessary to the other people involved.
Frankly this weekend is going to be terrible and I'm not going to enjoy playing music.
That's a fucking crime.

It's my party and I'll cancell if I I want to...
Well now I'm looking at the situation and I'm wondering whether I should bother at all. In addition to the fact that I and Shawna are going to be uncomfortable there will be no less than 4 other uncomfortable pairings at the party should everyone show up. Not to mention the presence of an increasingly divided group and a change in the morals of everyone as we divide, and I'm not sure the party will be a good idea.
Plus I have to wake up at 8 the next morning for Christmas at my grandparents.
The bottom line really is, does anyone really want to do this, and is it a good idea? I know I want to see everyone that's down and maybe some social time with Shawna will help me let go. But I know this party is gonna have a lot of divided groups and the house really isn't very big.
So what is a guy to do?
Well Danny is Gone

Crappy Pop Songs
Too Little Too Late - Jojo -- Oh crap... I hadn't even seen the video... but I bet I know all the words already. Heard it twice on the radio today alone. She gets all wet at the end.. sorry for ruining it.
Since U Been Gone - Kelly Clarkson - Jesus. I hate American Idol. But you think I can get away from this shit hit? Hell no. I put it on mix discs. Entire mix discs of Since U Been Gone.
Get The Party Started - Pink - Ooooooo ATTITUDE! And Pink in a towel. She still looks like a boy. (Hey your bra is showing!)
Toxic - Britney Spears - Really quite shocked it made it past the censors.
Underneath Your Clothes- Shakira - Sorry is it hot in here? She looks even hotter as a brunette.
Beautiful Stranger - Madonna - Yeah she's old, but still catchy. At least you get the entertainment value of Mike Meyers on this one.
Bills Bills Bills - Destiny's Child - Hey, this one can be enjoyed on mute.
Notice how all these songs start with a little sketch explaining why the women are so broke up about what's going on. That's because the music lacks SUBSTANCE. Yep, I'm sure it's MP3's that are killing the music industry.

OK C'mon now!
Blogger won't let me update Pilot's World yet.
Also been trying to hook up SMS (Mobile Phone) posting through a few different methods and programs, to no avail.
I'm just getting frustrated, and I'd like to switch, but I've got 2 years worth of posts here and I'd like to keep it that way.

Uh Oh Politcs on Pilot's World
Unfortunately I never seem to talk much about politics on Pilot's World. Worried it will take over really... turn into this crazy hippie hick manifesto and end up ruining and/or saving the planet. I started Untitled with Shanna hoping I'd get it in somewhere safe... in fact it's why I start all my blogs. Turns out maybe I should just do it all here. Close my other blogs, post that shit here and maybe get some interested viewership. Save a step.
So I'm gonna give it a try... a good political post for y'all.
Then I was sitting there tonight watching Rick Mercer (yes, even my humor TV watching is political... sue me) and he was talking to the speaker of the house. As the interview ended it occurred to me, does the speaker ever accidentally wear his robes home? Like when I worked at DQ there would be days where I'd be so upset and eager to leave that I wore my apron home. It must happen to the speaker he's just heading out of the office all like "I swear if Stephen Fucking Harper says 'tax cut' one more damn time..." or "Does Jack Layton even OWN a tie?" and just forget to drop off the robes. All in a huff driving down the freeway in his 2004 Kia Magenta.
Makes you wonder...

What to get Pilot for Christmas / Housewarming
Now I'm not saying that I haven't had some nice stuff especially after I graduated, but the move coming up will be move number 13 or 14 since I graduated in 1999. That's like 2 moves a year. Fuck. But you know how moving is, stuff gets broken or lost or stolen and on THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS transferred to an alternate dimension (fucking stargate).
So to start, I'm gonna work on the kitchen, because I love to cook and I want to get into it more. I've got links for alot of it because I'm going for a "look" for most of this stuff. I do plan to put up the financing for most of it myself, but I'll wait until after Christmas to make any purchases and I'll update the list in June just before my birthday. In July. On the 15th. (nudge nudge)
THE KITCHEN
Ahh the Kitchen - My Home away from home.
I love to cook and frankly of late my kitchen is composed of crap, shit and broken crap. The only thing that works to spec in my kitchen is my garlic press. So we're gonna start there.
As you can see it's unpolished stainless steel with black highlights. I'll add to that scheme clear glass and white plastic and we've got a start. So here's what I need :
-Pyrex
- Casserole dishes - in sizes ranging from those small personal ones to a good sized family
- Rectangular Cake Dish - Smaller Square One and a Bigger Rectangular One
- Pie Dish
- Bowls - Three or four sizes - small to large
- Graded Measuring Cups
-Cookie Sheets
-Pizza Pans
-Roasters (Small and Medium)
- Good Set of Pots and Pans (very low on the priority list... please don't worry about gifting this one).
- A good set of knives - Cleaver, paring knife, chef knife, bread knife... you get the picture... a set with a wood block. If it can fit the colour scheme, that would kick ass.
- A large spice rack
- Cutting Board (black plastic and/or white plastic. I'd prefer two one in each colour-matching)
- Set of about 10-15 small glass oil bottles. (matching the spice rack would be smashing)
- Utensil Set (spoon, ladle, spatula etc)
- Set of silicone spatulas
- Medium sized and small whisk
- Can opener
- Set of measuring cups and spoons
- One of those spinning things that you put utensils in (black or stainless steel)
- Barware - wine glasses, table glasses, everything. Again, this is low priority right now and I might just pick it all up myself at once so it matches.
- Dinnerware - Plates and utensils. I'm liking black and stainless steel here. Something funky yet male. Seriously no fucking flowers.
- Storage containers... Rubbermaid - Tupperware whatever... any sizes, small to large (remember white and clear if possible)
- Canisters - I have four in white and clear for my pastas and rice. I wouldn't mind a set for coffee, flour, sugar and such. I'm thinking I might just take care of this one myself as I've already started the set and I know how large and how many I need.
Appliances-
Well I don't expect the plumbed fridge and gas stove to come, so I won't ask. But there are a few mid-range items that perhaps some rich people might feel generous enough to buy for me. In reality I'm just writing them down so I remember for myself.
- Stand mixer
- Coffee Maker
- Toaster (big one guys.. I used to have two, now I have none)
- Food Processor
- Slow Cooker
- Popcorn Air Popper
Anyways that's a good start. I'll probably fill most of it in myself. I'm gonna work on my room, living room, studio and bathroom too, but you people aren't that interested I'm sure. I can do it m'self.
Peace y'all!
The Celebrity F**k List Meme comes to Life!
Andrew - Randomjunkification
Corey - CD's Playhouse
Rhonda - Rescue Regina
Danny - Ralph Wiggum is my Hero
Jeff - George Bush Sucks
Keep e'm comin' folks... and remember the idea is to encourage your readers to do the same... it's like a virus.
Of course as soon as you get it done you think of a million others - Anne Heche, Jennifer Tilley, Rose McGowan, Julianne Moore, Mark's mom... but I guess we can only hope so much... the idea of the list is damage control not a free ride with any celebrity who will drop trow in front of you.
I'm Glad I'm Not a Beagle
Other than that the vet thought she seemed good, teeth looked good, normal temp, healthy eyes and all... just behaviourily different. So she cleaned out Boots's pooper and we're gonna observe. Then as soon as she gets better, she's got a date with a needle.
So do I later this week. They really gotta figure out how to give shots via pill ... or better... beer.

The Meme So Far!
Anyhoo, the entries so far have been from the wonderful Rhonda. And the questionable Danny, who seems to think I know anything about networking (I don't). EDIT - Also the dapper and debonair Jeff has entered on his blog.
But I gotta run, I think Bootsy might be really sick, so I'm gonna give the vet a call.

Pilot's World first Meme!!!! Celebrity F**k List
OK, that's out of the way, now my meme... that I'm STARTING!
So I was discussing with someone... can't even remember who right now... Trev I think... about the Celebrity Fuck List. A list of say ten people that each person should they meet in real life and have the opportunity, can have sex with without consequence... the other partner can't say anything. Trick is, they have to be like big time celebrity... like untouchable... there's actually one on my list I'm not sure of, in such a case, the partner has veto power.
So Like Brad Pitt, yes, the guy from the Dell commercials, no.
Katherine Zeta Jones, yes, the newsgirl from the FM Station, no (plus Corey would castrate me).
without further adieu, my 10 :
- Nicole Kidman
- Mellissa Auf De Mar (need verification)
- Shakira
- Katherine Zeta Jones
-
- Salma Hayek
- Minnie Driver
- Sarah McLachlan
- Brittney Spears
- Beyonce Knowles
So there you go.... meme away... I wanna read your lists. Make sure you post a link to them in the Comments so other people can come check it out!

A few things today
Second, Old Skool is playing tonight at about 10 o'clock at a benefit for a young girl and her family. She is struggling against Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that effects bone and soft tissue. It's at Fitzgerald's pub and eatery (the King George) in Weyburn. Please try and come out, there will be a couple other bands playing as well.
Third, the Fighting Hell Brooms won their game last night 6-4 in 8 ends! That brings us to 1-4-0 for the season, we're looking to improve on that record. If you want to get behind the team, you too can have a piece of team merchandise, check it out at http://www.cafepress.com/hellbrooms.
Well that's it for me. Remember that it's Remembrance/Memorial/Armistice Day. If you see a vet today, say thanks!

TWO YEAR SEXTRAVIGANZA!
Ok, so it's not really a sextraviganza, but today marks the end of year two and beginning of year three of that which is Pilot's World.
It's been a hell of a year, no lies there, Pilot's World just about didn't make it a couple times there. But I pushed through and it looks like the state of the blog will show that Pilot's World is as strong as ever.
No major plans for the future of Pilot's World. It had grown too large for its britches there for a while, so that was one reason it just about didn't make it, it was too much work. The only major change I'd like to make to the place is to migrate the blog over to the new version of blogger and do some typesetting changes, as my monitor is the only one on the planet where this font isn't ridiculously large.
In lieu of gifts, please visit The Hunger Site today and click to donate food to a starving child. Thanks!

I am Flippin' Freezin'
When I was a child I had a Teddy Bear. His name originally enough was "Teddy". He was quite large, yellow, could talk (in my mind) and his best friend was "Pillow" a red throw pillow that I also had as a security toy. When I turned 13 I decided that it was time to give that shit up. As it was I never played with them, rarely slept with them and they'd both stopped talking sometime before. I knew I couldn't give them up cold turkey, so I put them into the storage room in our basement. Sometime later Teddy went to the funeral home, pillow was spared, but she was a gift made by my grandmother to celebrate my birth, so she was kept and is still stored with some of my other sentimental items.
Two years ago I bought a ring for a woman I was madly in love with. I had no money at the time, but was so in love that I felt the sheer fact that I was proposing would make up for the fact that I didn't spend much on the ring. That Christmas, I proposed to her and gave the the ring.
A year later I finally received a reply to that question when the ring was tearfully returned to me only feet from where I now sit. That day I threw the ring at my recycling box and swore it was thrown out... I knew I missed but I knew when I had time I'd pick it up and dispose of it. I convinced myself it was gone, and I did my best to convince others of it. I lied to myself. I lied to my friends and family. Just like storing Teddy and Pillow in the basement, the ring sat there as my comfort. Sure I had moved on... I even forgot about her, but I had never let go.
But this time, mom wasn't there to throw out my security and leave me stronger.
Today I received an e-mail from that woman. It was some sort of online networking site. The question posed by the e-mail was "Is ****** ************** your friend?". Quite frankly I was terrified to answer either way. So I took the cowards way out again and simply deleted the e-mail. Instantly it seemed it brought up the memory of that ring.
Well I went and grabbed it. There's a hell of a disgusting pile of recycleables in the middle of my kitchen now, but the ring has passed out of my life. Just like the ring in the movies, I've put it to water to have it's fate decided by a later generation. I hope someday someone finds it and it brightens their day or week. I really do.
As for that e-mail, I'm going to leave it. I don't want to insult that woman by saying no, but she has passed out of my life now. We shared 2 and a half years together. I really did love her with all my heart and I think, even though sometimes it's hard to imagine, that she loved me with all her heart. We were both young, naive and looking for someone to be with. I don't want to hate her, I will hate what she did, but she made a mistake, hopefully she's learned and never done it again. I've moved on to someone else... in the past I could have easily said here "She's more ___ and less _____ " but I'm not going to make comparisons or insults... neither women deserve that. It's a chapter of my life that is over. When I entered that chapter I was boy, young, naive and confused. Today I am a man, I know what I want and I know how I'm going to go about getting it... I went through skyrocketing highs and cavernous deeps, but I've emerged alive and strong.
Goodnight all, tomorrow is Pilot World's 2 year anniversary. Let's make this next year the best there's ever been.

We agreed on the name over beer on Friday, I promised a logo. It ain't perfect.... hell it isn't even good, but it's something and with four white T-Shirts and some iron on transfers, we could have uniforms!

Mark Interacts With Animals Fourth Edition
And now without further adieu... Mark interacts ... with horses (KINKY!)
Incidentally, if anyone has any new pictures of Mark interacting with animals, and want to contribute to the series, please let me know. We've already done fish (Northern Pike or "Jack"), cat, dog (Bootsy herself) and now Horse. There was at one time a picture of Mark and a duck, but it's been lost to time. Any new material is welcome.
Later y'all
Just so you know
Fuck even my eyes and hands hurt, I've got canker sores all over my tongue, I struggle to breathe occasionally, my ears ache and I don't feel like eating anything.

Riderville Canada
In the recent editions of the computer game Civilization, there is a feature in which you can take over cities of other countries simply by the circle of your cultural influence. If that was as literal in real life, tonight, Saskatchewan would have finally tipped the scales and taken over Calgary. Hell, maybe tomorrow Ralph Klein calls up Lorne Calvert and concedes Calgary to us... it's got all our citizens in it anyways. We'd have to get rid of the Stamps then... we'll move e'm to Halifax or something... because as we all know, Saskatchewan can only support one major league team... though we'll hold on to the flames, but they'll have to become the Saskatchewan Flames.
See you next weekend BC! Just a reminder, last time we met in the final, you won, but uh... you go McCallum now. na na na!

Fine
The weekend was a very busy and fun one. Played a super fun gig with the party animals at the CanAm in Oungre. The next day, I went through Regina and ended up in Lumsden for another gig of equal partying and fun. Both gigs got us more gigs Oungre on New Years and Lumsden Boxing Day. So good on that.
Sunday night I reunited with old friend and drummer, Trevor to go see A Kind of Magic, a Queen tribute band at the Center of the Arts. It was a good show, but I think I spent too much on the show and it was a little too quiet. But the songs were good, the look was good and the band was fun.
Also been seeing a special laday on a regular basis now. Those of you who know me and have half a brain can figure it out, those who don't/can't, well you don't need to know. Simple as that.
Also, I won some money on VLT's thanks to the band being late showing up to the gig in Lumsden and I got a cell phone.
So there, you're up to date on my life. Now I'm gonna go die.

Halloween Tuneage
This year, I put a little more of myself into it (and kept the sexy women for myself). SoI give to you, a couple of one man jam recordings I did the other day. Their live mixes and completely done in one take (needless to say, each jam took in the area of 45 minutes to set up). These would make great background music for a party or to have playing in the background as you give out candies to the kids.
Hope you Enjoy!

Renaissance Man
Even Lisa is criticized on an episode of the Simpsons where she accused of being a "a buffet style intellectual, picking and nibbling until one day you're 48 and managing a Barnes and Noble" "a dilettante". The social acceptance of this kind of career is shaky at best.
But I really think that with work and time I could eventually come to afford working in music in a couple or 3 bands, doing photography for people, managing a small group of income bearing websites and just doing whatever else, selling
I dunno, thoughts? Opinions? Criticisms?

The Wisdom of Homer Simpson
Oh Homer, you'll bury us all.
Sunday, October 22, 2006
Thank you Blogger
Well Andrew and I broke ground on our new band last night. A bit of technical setup and a few jams have put us well on our way. We are in desperate need of a drummer, must be creative and fun. Seriously if you got the kit and want to do some experimental metal, get ahold of us, the sooner the better, but be warned, we've already got some crazy beats written, so it's not gonna be a cakewalk.
Anyhoo, that's about it for now. Well I suppose I could bitch a bit about how hard it is to dress sometimes. Ever go out with someone and suddenly realize "Shit, I wore this shirt the last time we hung out". I freaking hate that.

Oh how we waste our time...
It's an interactive fridge with letter magnets you can rearrange to spell stuff. The caveat? About 20 other people are trying to spell stuff too, and they'll grab letters wherever they can get e'm. That image over there on the left took me about 5 minutes to write and maintain, just to get a screenshot. I wanted to do the webaddress, but GOOD LUCK!
If you wanna check it out yourself and mess with all the little strangers in cyberspace (hey remember that word!) go to http://web.okaygo.co.uk/apps/letters/flashcom/index.htm.

Curling - the most painful game on Earth
That's right, in addition to being a Lion's Club member, I curl. Guess I don't need to be like Danny and pretend I'm a superhero like a 5 year old to have a good time (oh you SO had that one coming).
Anyways, our Skip, Corey has a contest on his blog, CD'S Playhouse to name the team, so if you've got some good curling team names, head on over! Also I should mention Soulfood's Contest to write her machine message.
Umm what else... well I do have about 4 new blogs I need to add to the list and promote here, but dammit, I just don't feel like it.

Quadruple Booked
In other news, the inside of my mouth is peeling. I had a bag of Xtra Salt n' Vinegar Rave potato chips and it seems to have killed a thin layer of skin in my mouth. So now I'm molting. It would be cool if it weren't so gross and annoying.
As to the comments on my last post about Dulcet. Well, Dulcet is the best band you've never heard of. And Dave, it was just a warm-up, we're playing this coming weekend, fret not.
Also and finally. I've had to cancel/postpone my performance at the Communithon. I haven't heard back yet as to wether I can be rescheduled, but as it stands it looks like I won't be playing due to a scheduling snafu. Ces't la vie. But to make it up I will book another solo gig... these songs gotta get played.

AH SHIT
Oh well I'll go tommorrow.
In other exciting news, Dulcet jammed this weekend and it kicked some major ass!

I'm too sexy for this blog... too sexy for this blog....
Jammed with Dave and Rob last night. Sorry Amanda... hope we didn't bore/offend you too much. Such is life with rock-star wannabees. Did a gagillion Linger covers, some old WMD, a Test Pilot song or two and some great Pink Floyd covers. I have a feeling I may have been witnessing the birth of Linger ver 4... "Electric Boogaloo".
Did some social networking on that nasty MySpace today. Hoping maybe a few people check it out and come to the show on the 27th at 10:00 PM (thanks Shanna!). For those of you who would like to keep up with the progress on the solo project, please visit http://www.jeremypilon.ca. It's just my MySpace account presently, but should be a new page by the end of the day.
Also bit the bullet and bought http://www.pilotsworld.ca. That's right, we've gone corporate. So you can update your bookmarks if you like, but the old addresses will remain operational until such time as I have to pay for them.

Another Post that should be on MySpace...
So I'm booked to play the Communithon on OCTOBER 27 at 10:00. That's at the Legion Hall in Weyburn or live on Access 7. Make sure you check it out. Failing that, I am getting some footage recorded by some friends, so I hope to have the stuff up on YouTube in the weeks following. Depending on how I felt about the show afterwards, I'll judge if/how I'll proceed... I may be looking for volunteers in November.
Today I'm demo-ing the 5 songs I'll be playing at the show. Mostly to get them into a finished state, but also so I have something to practice with over the next couple weeks. Unfortunately I don't have an electric guitar at my disposal at present, so I'm a little limited in the ease of recording.
And finally, Pilot's World is very likely to get some more making over in the next little while, possibly a major look update. One of the features I want to add is a friends ad board at the top of the page. Basically if someone I know has a show coming up, or like the Saskblogs meets or anything like that, they can send me an appropriate graphic to put up and I'll put it into rotation. Just kinda a little connection to the community thing. So keep it in mind, I'll be taking applications for it in the next bit.
Thursday, October 05, 2006
So with the solo project (of which I have a show booked) I've been working on eventually performing Moonlight Sonata as a solo performance... on bass. I honestly didn't think it had been done, but I did find several videos on YouTube that proved me wrong.
This is what I plan to do...

The Secret Lives of Bloggers - Digital Duality
But what I'm gonna discuss is secret blogs. For sometime, I've contemplated starting a secret blog or blogs... sort of have Pilot's World as my censored, kid friendly, mom friendly blog, then have all the crazy shit I do on another blog. I know people do do this, some have invited me to these alternate blogs, others have eluded to them, but never forked over a link... probably wise as this blog is read by dozens of people.
I had also considered making a blog with clearances based on cookies, then I realized how lazy I was and dropped that idea forthwith. It was all part of the plan for "Pilot's Universe" which would have been a fairly all inclusive blog/website. But I never really got the gumption to do it and instead just rearranged some of the graphics here.
ANYWAYS. What I'm trying to get at is. Do y'all have secret blogs? Do you like them/use them? Do you find a greater readership because you're more honest on that blog or is it just a good place to vent. I don't want to know where the blog is or what it's about... that would negate it being secret. But I am curious about this mysterious second life some lead on the net... and I want to hear about it!

Does anyone know
Me neither.
But I feel compelled to do so, as the alternative is cleaning house.
Monday, October 02, 2006
Introspective
I know I can say without any doubt that I've felt better the past few weeks then I've felt in months. My house is getting cleaner (not there yet, but I am working on it), I've got money going into savings, I've made another very good friend, my job is stable and pays well, I have a reunion with my highschool band coming up, a really fun cover band, a solo project and just a feeling of general well-being.
On the other hand I've got alot of things that I don't like. I'm lonely and bored in Weyburn. This town has the ability to suck the life right out of a person and despite my best efforts it's sucked the life out of me. No other place I've lived has ever been such a boon to my creativity or energy. I've been shooting at getting a degree in Environmental Science at the U of M, yet I wonder if I'm university-cut... I haven't been in school for 5 years, my job is one I tolerate, but it has potential to become a job I hate in the next 12 months if I'm forced to switch facilities and although it's allowing me to save money, my apartment is too small for my ambitions, I can't fit my music stuff in this house and still have a place to live comfortably... plus my neighbours are the loudest people I've ever heard during sex.
My solutions? I don't know. Some have suggested I work in photography, a job I'd really enjoy... particularily photo-journalism. The environmental thing isn't off my plate yet, but I do have to give it some serious thought before I pursue it, my mistakes of the past are a warning of that one, and watching the turmoil my brother is going through right now reminds me of how careful I need to be and how easily it is to make a mistake. I love my music, but I doubt that I possess the stamina, carisma and luck it would require to even make a living I could support myself with, but I also know staying on with the City until I retire is not really an option for me either. And then there's the goal I've really wanted, but it always seems I need to deal with other goals first, start my own family.
Of course it all begs alot of discussion, meditation and thought. I'm surrounded by people I consider wise and knowledgeable on these subjects, my parents, Armin-my foreman, friends, family and any other amount of people in my life. I think that by talking to them, really analyzing my own goals and dreams, something will come of it.
Sometimes it's just hard to be patient... perhaps Jamiroquai said it best :
"Dance
all these hard times you're going through
Just dance
got candy in my heels tonight baby.
Dance."

Jammed with Andrew on Friday night which was really cool and Rhonda last night which was also very cool. Unfortunately had to miss a Regina party due to work, but had a really really good time last night anyways.

Crazy Fun Extravaganza! Part 2
We awoke the next morning slowly. Mark ran to town to get us some water as being on a farm owned by Binns' there is naturally no running water. Or gravity.
We spent most of the morning strolling around the area, visiting the four horses in the area, commiting petty theft, constructing a meth lab and generally being wacky. I think 7000 photographs were taken in this short period.
At noon we rushed to town to the "gift opening" (although all gifts were already open), had some great "Greatest Hit's of the Wedding" food and generally had a good time. Frisbee was played with some abandon.
At 4ish, Mark and I would part ways with Kat and Rob and head back to Weyburn, where for the rest of the week, I would recuperate. Somewhere in there, I found out that Old Skool had been booked to play Kyle McDonald's Housewarming Party in Kipling (The Guy with the Paperclip).
The week was uneventful really. Friday night I spent at my parent's place with my family, getting drunk and playing "Scene It". I would also find out on Friday that for no apparant reason, my phone was cut off. It would be fixed before I awoke the next morning, but it had me worried for a bit.
Saturday, I headed to Kipling with Muray and Linda (with a Y). I brought my whole amp stack.. mostly to show off.
The show was a little rough around the edges, and a bit in the middle, and there was considerable structural damage, rust and infested with termites. But we got through it ok and people seemed to be happy to hear us, so maybe I was the only person that noticed.
The band took some great pictures that night with the assistance of photographer extraordinaire, Mark, assisted by the man himself, Rob.
Mark, Rob and I parted ways with Old Skool then and headed out to the campgrounds to meet up with some of Mark's friends and ... well see what mayhem would insue.
The rest of the night is a bit foggy. I remember smoking in the back of the Club Treehouse Cube Van, of Red Paperclip fame (damn you Capitan Black), had a passionate discussion about the IHOP and watertowers in Fargo from a genuine Fargoodlian and jamming with Rob and Mark's old friend Brad. Rob and I headed home about midnight or so.
Sunday would dawn with the promise of a Labour Day Classic.... my favourite type of football game. Despite being seated somewhere south of Moose Jaw, the game was fantastic and razzlin' Blue Bombers fans is now officially my favourite full contact sport. I decided that night that I'd had a full enough couple weeks, skipped going to a party Kristie was putting on (sorry yo, next time!) and just generally died from there.... I think I started blogging again shortly thereafter, so now you're up to date!
Coming soon! More pictures from the "Crazy Fun Extravaganza", a totally new "Mark Interacts with Animals" to promote the opening of his new blog (HINT HINT) and ... post number 501... yep this is my 500th post!
Talk to you all soon, I got some more wackiness, insane conspiracy theories, a big announcement in the coming weeks and some useless links planned. So stay tuned... I'm back.

Hello Readers
Five years ago yesterday, I walked into work at the Sears Callcenter in Regina, Saskatchewan. As I walked by the cafeteria I heard one woman speaking to another of "Two buildings in New York were hit and the Pentagon". My first thought is "What was on TBS last night? Only a crappy 90's disaster film could have a scenario like that!"
I walked into the training room I was scheduled to be in to a completely new world.
Let's review the facts -
Sept 11, 2001 - Both towers of the World Trade Center in New York are struck by TWO SEPARATE aircraft within 20 minutes of each other. Less than an hour later, the Pentagon is struck by a third plane. Later, another plane would crash south east of Pittsburg. The Twin Towers are decimated and crumble in the attacks, the Pentagon burned long into the day but stood. All in all, 2,819 people would die from the attacks including all the passengers and crew of the planes, criminals involved, fire crew rushing into the scene of the disaster and people from in the towers, and in the Pentagon. Before nightfall in New York, the United States has launched an offensive in Afghanistan. The nation's press have still not received word of suspected parties involved.
Well after that day the world would quickly learn that it was caused by a group called Al-Quaeda, supported by the Taliban government in Afghanistan. The US would respond by starting two wars, illegally detainig prisoners in secret and offshore prisons, wiretap their own citizens, and put severe restrictions on the nation's movement, freedom of speech or basic human rights.
The man blamed for masterminding these attacks, Osama Bin Laden, has never been caught or spotted by American sources since the attacks.
I found out this afternoon that more people have died to date in the Iraq war than died in the attacks of 9/11. Add to that the deaths in Afghanistan and other "anti-terrorist" projects and you have an administration that is killing it's own people by policy than the enemy is by force.
Mr. Bush, please stop, you're letting them win.
American People, take this man down. Peacefully, with dignity. He means well, but he's a misguided fool and he's making it worse.
Mr. Bin Laden, I have two questions. One, did you imagine this demon you would release, or did you predict it's own self-destruction? Do you pray for forgiveness for all the lives of innocents you have taken?

Sun Aug 27 - 31 Crash and Burn - Red Paperclip Announcement!

Sun Sept 3 - Labour Day Classic in Regina
Monday Sept 4 - Housecleaning and Procrastination
Aug 23 - Departure for Calgary
Andrew, Jon and I left Weyburn early in the evening, arrving in Regina around 7:30-8 where we sat with Kat at the house conversing with one of the odd eccentrics that live in their area of town. Rob arrived shortly thereafter and we were off. It's beleived that Rob's decision to leave with the car in reverse would come to haunt us later.
A fairly uneventful trip West, a desperate search for an A&W and an even more desperate search for a campsite in Brooks AB left us curled up snugly in a campsite of ill repute on the edge of that town... little did we know at the time.
Aug 24 - Calgary Zoo, Tool
The morning awoke with a row of tents with shopping cart adjacent parking. It appars we had set up camp in the the heart of a hobo village. To the side of our campsite lay a pile of what could only be human hair. We enjoyed a quick breakfast of delicious oatmeal and horrific rosehips (Thanks Kat!), then hit the open road.
Only moments later it seemed, we arrived in the vast wasteland that is ... the Calgary Zoo Parking lot. For a score of days it seemed we wandered the lot, ignoring the direction of the lot signs opting instead to use instincts and a long abandoned form of magic to find our way. We foraged the bushes for food, shared stories to keep our spirits up. Eventually someone looked up and we were on our way into the Zoo. Highlights of the Zoo : The massive hippos, the very large, kinda gross fish in the hippo tank, the kick ass butterfly room (I never really pegged myself a "butterfly" person, tooy faggy, but I really dug these guys), the red pandas (what can I say, they were kinda cute), the pissing monkey, the fucked up cafeteria/food court thing we ate at... blew my mind for only the first time that day, the tiger, the peacock, smoking in the dinosaur park, and on the bridge (damn you Captain Black!), seeing the sad gorrilas (one had recntly died), and really just the scale and scope of the whole place. I hadn't been there since I was a small child, it was great to get a new view of the old place.
Off we went from there to find Davin, then lose ourselves, then Davin found us again, then off to the downtown where Davin and I lost Kat, Rob, Andrew and Jon, then we were all found, then we went into Davins, found ourselves a bit, then Kat and I gained something else, lost the rest, then headed off to see Tool.
On the way, whilst dropping off and picking up at the car, we discover that the trunk will no longer shut. Some bungee cord and creative parking left us in acceptable shape to go to the show, but only because it was Tool.
Over two years ago, the Calgary Flames were in the Stanley Cup finals. I and my mate at the time would join much of the rest of the country in anxiously following wether this rag-tag gang of hockey players could bring the coveted Stanley Cup back home to Canada for the first time in a decade. I watched, jealously wishing I could be there in the Saddledome, part of this bit of Canadian history possibly unfold.
In the end, they lost the cup, Canada lost it's NHL hockey and I lost the girl. I never thought I would ever feel so romantically about the Saddledome again.
Thanks Tool for giving it back.
I'm not gonna insult Tool by trying to describe the show. Call me or something if you want to know what I thought of the show. When you see me cry in person, you'll know how fucking good that show was.
Leaving the concert on cloud 9, we were unfortunately to be immediately re-submitted to the horrors of the trip to Regina. Two latenight driving shifts and a shower in Regina later and we were saying goodbye to Jon, and hello to the road to Esterhazy (and goodnight for me for the first time since Brooks).
Somewhere in there, it changed to
Aug 25 - Dave and Amanda's Wedding!
At long last we arrived in Gerald, population YOU. A pretty small place, but neat nonetheless. Rob and all the rest of us went and took some pictures of the wedding crew... well Rob did, I held a big white circle and I think Andrew picked his nose a bit. Eventually, Andrew and I were used to our full potential when the soon-to-be-newlyweds catch a Robertson head screw (the unluckiest of screws as I would learn from a bad curling broom) in the tire of their car. Into action we sprung, changing the tire before they had even left the yard. We then took the car joyriding, picking up gallons of malt liquor and dozens of loose women, consuming both in quantity whilst tearing down the gravel backroads on two wheels, one of them a doughnut eventually arriving at the church doors just in the nick of time for a quick bathroom break and the wedding.
I accompanied Dave on the procession song, blew it (sorry. I trainwrecked) and enjoyed a great wedding. Surely dissappoining thanks to a total absence of lazers, smoke machines, hundreds of blinding, colourful lights, giant screens, white stage, intense metal rhythms and volumes in excess of levels safe even for short periods. But it was nice, and the newlyweds looked wonderful.
Here's where I believe Rob;s Portfolio of "Embarrasing Pictures of Jeremy" starts. Keep in mind : I'm sober the entire time, I just get into party mode... and it's not stopping me. Dave, sorry I sic'd all the homo men at the wedding on you there. I just didn't know there were so many of us "Friday Warriors" out there. The food was also fantastic, the Chilean dancers were wonderful and the toasts were tear-jerkers. Why did Mr. Roman's toast seem like a eulogy for Linger? Kidding guys... kidding. But it was cool to hear what everyone had to say about each other. The dance was also off the hook.
Around 1:00 Rob, Kat and I acquired a new party member (Mark) whilst losing another (Andrew who went back with KT and Steven) and left to the Binns farm. There we set up camp, waxed philosophic, smoked (damn you Captain Black!) and went to bed.
TO BE CONTINUED!!!!
For now, you can also enjoy the pictures on my Shutterfly account!

SO the time has come
I had the wonderful pleasure last night of doing something I didn't think I'd get the chance to do again. I got to sit down with Dave and write a song. Sure he'd already written much of it, but we put the rest together and played it a few times. It's a procession song for his wedding that he's written for his fiancee. It's a beautiful song, I hope we pull it off flawlessly at the wedding, just so it's perfect for Amanda. Everybody better be crying after this number (though it's pretty uplifting, so probably sporting wood would be more apt). I was also afforded the chance to write in a genre I've only played before, worship or "church" music. Any of you that played guitar in a church choir will laugh at how cheesily derivative of that genre it is. Gimme a break, we had 2 hours.
But other than that I'm packed and ready for Tool and the wedding! Maybe I'll post while I'm away. LATER YO!

Untitled - The Blog
Shanna and I have for a short while been slowly chipping away at a political debate blog. One of us posts a topic (typically so far National politics, but not limited to), posts our opinions or observations and then debate follows in the comments.
The blog is called Untitled (We couldn't even agree on a title). It's at http://untitledpolitics.blogspot.com. We don't post too often and we aren't always diligent in the debate portion, but hey we state some opinions and if one of us feels strongly enough (or brave enough) to debate, then we do. I'm beating her on posts right now...

Football
It's funny, I don't know if it's just a Saskatchewan thing, but going to a game is like going to church... with more swearing and cheerleaders. But seriously, when I go to a game, I don't need to think what I'm gonna wear, it'll be green and white, topped off with my 'Rider cap. Everyone with half a brain knows to "wear their greens" to a game. Just like church... yes I wear green to church.
Hey the last game I went to, my mom accedentaly wore blue... and the Argos won... I blame her.
Anyways, this post really isn't going anywhere, but that I'm going to the game, I'll cheer while I'm there and then I'll bitch and complain after the game and ask for Danny Barrets head on a plate.

You know, of late I've been thinking alot about death...
Questions I've pondered (answers in italics) :
- Where would I like to be buried?
- The moon.. though in orbit around Saturn might be nice....
- What songs would I liked played at my funeral?
- "Brickhouse" by The Commodores
- What would you do if everyone you knew died and the world was mostly destroyed and there were like 1 in 1000 people surviving all like from "The Stand" or "Mad Max", or maybe like killer zombies that do the whole "They bite you then you turn into one" schtick?
- Likely I'd cry for about three weeks then I'd stock up on porn and Cheetos and make the most of it.
- Coffin or urn?
- Coffin, and it should be a large black one... I'd like to be buried standing up should I be placed on the moon... if in orbit around Saturn, preferably in alignment with other moons or plantets... at least on days of reckoning I should be in line.
- Would you like to be frozen in case you could be healed/cured?
- No, thanks. I plan to die of sexual exhaustion, and really I'd like that to be on my epitaph... "Died doing what (and who) he loved". I'd gladly die and stay dead.
- I don't have "Brickhouse"? Since I wouldn't spend actual money on your funeral... what should I do?
- It's on my computer... I'll let you borrow a blank CD to burn a copy of it for the funeral. Password to get on the thing is "HelloKitty"
- Open Bar?
- Sure
- Best Method of Suicide?
- Ok this one is complicated... and somehow related to that freezing question. The trick would be to find a partner as suicidal but also as showy as you. Go parachuting together, strip naked... well you get the picture... the idea would be to climax as you hit the ground. Morbid? Yes. Perverted? Certainly. BUT WHAT A WAY TO GO!
- Is there an afterlife?
- I certainly hope so, because I got a coupon from some guy on the street for "One Free Hug From Jesus".. as opposed to a "Jesus Hug"
- Who's going to die first, Gerald Ford or Fidel Castro?
- Ford
