So for the third time in a year I've been in close contact with the breakup of a long term relationship (including my own). Now I'm not gonna sit here and say that this is the ugliest part of the human condition, but perhaps it is the most tragic.
Two people meet, and fall in love. Now we're not talking about a few casual dates and the story ends. These people share secrets, lives, passion and souls. Then one day things turn sour, and for some reason comprimise is no longer an option and the parties inevitably split. Soon the pain of even seeing each other becomes too much and often within weeks, that person we saw everyday and shared our most intimate moments with becomes a painful scar of the past. If you do have to see them, you try and avoid it, and eventually they just pass from conciousness.
Is it so naive to beleive that a person can fall in love forever, and loss of that love can leave a wound that won't heal?
